I enjoy a good triptych, so love the opportunity to submit images to the annual Nelson Camera Club Triptych Salon. The triptych format provides a photographer with an opportunity to tell a story which might not be possible in a single image. It requires a certain amount of imagination and creativity to make three images work together or communicate a narrative. I am amazed and inspired by the variety of images, that are entered into this salon every year.
When I received the results by email this year I was keen to see how my images had done, so read through the list and saw that two of my images had been accepted. Which I was pleased about. I scanned through the list a second time to see who had won the highly commended, honours, best category awards and champion image. It was such a thrill and a surprise to see that my image "Burning" had taken out the champion image.
The triptych images are below for your viewing pleasure.
Burning - Champion Image
In 2008, I worked in the Australian outback, personally witnessing the impact of an out-of-control wildfire on the landscape and trees. This image draws on that experience and illustrates the intensity and ferocity of wildfires, as they journey across the landscape.
Architectural Drape - Accepted
Stronger Together - Accepted
